Indonesia currently strategizes its national mining industry by investing in refinery projects such as creating a new smelting factory (a factory to turn raw ores into finished metal form, e.g., tin, lead, copper, bronze, or iron). This Indonesian government strategy also includes the ban on exporting raw metal ores such as raw Nickel, raw Bauxite, and raw Copper to encourage national smelting projects. Ores are naturally occurring rocks that contain metals or metal compounds to be extracted into valuable metals.
In Geothermal energy development, Indonesia currently is the second-highest in production with 2,276 MW behind the United States. This is due to Indonesia's strategic geography that has massive potential for Geothermal energy manufacturing. Even though currently it has 4 out of 10 biggest Geothermal Power Plant, Indonesia's production on this renewable energy only tapped 2 percent of all potential renewable energy. It only consisted 12 percent of total energy usage domestically."
